[edit]Description | El escudo está dividido en tres partes: en la superior y en toda la extensión se reflejan colmenares, que al decir de cronistas de la época, proliferaron en el territorio y constituyó una fuente económica que con el decursar de los años se ha ido extinguido, quedando solo como fuente de subsistencia.
La parte inferior dividida en dos secciones, muestra a la izquierda un árbol, de preferencia Campeche, en el otro un central azucarero, base económica fundamental y que propició al territorio la categoría de municipio en 1912. Al centro del escudo la efigie del patrono del territorio, Santo Tomás de Aquino, tradición que se celebra hasta la actualidad. "Sirve de soporte al escudo un banderín irregular en amarillo quemado, con una cinta superior en la que reza "Paraíso del Guacanayabo" y una inferior "Campechuela"." |
