DescriptionChristmas flood of 1964-65 (15800883407).jpg
After heavy snowfall residents in Washington, Oregon, northern California and parts of Nevada and Idaho watched warmer air from the Pacific Ocean cause heavy rainfall. The result was one of the worst floods in the Pacific Northwest records. The building in this photo is the former Oregon Journal Building (demolished in 1969), which was originally the Portland Public Market building. This view is looking southwest along the Willamette River seawall and Water Street from just south of the Morrison Bridge.
