A plaque on the side of the building says "Erected for the children of the convalescent home by Sir Philip Hickson Waterlow, Baronet. To the memory of his wife, his father & his mother and other relatives who lived at Fairseat. Consecrated by the Bishop of Rochester 20th August 1950".
