Carrickbeg, County Tipperary, Ireland


English: Plaque in memory of Mary Rice, daughter of Edmund Ignatius Rice, located at the “Famine Wall” of St. Molleran's Church. Unveiled on 5 October 1997 by Councillor David Shee. (See Michael Coady, Remembering Blessed Edmund's daughter, Munster Express, 3 October 1997, p. 19.) Inscription: In memory of Mary Rice only child of Blessed Edmund Rice founder of the Presentation and Christian Brothers. Mary Rice was born in Waterford in January 1789. She lived with relatives in Callan and in Carrick-on-Suir where she died in 1859. The Christian Brothers records attests to her burial in Carrickbeg on January 24th 1859. Solas na bhFlaıtheas dá hanam.
