English: Cantilupe Chantry south, Lincoln Cathedral. North gable has a hipped stone oriel window on C14 figured corbels, with C19 tracery. See listed building text[1]. On either side, shields with the arms of Cantilupe of Greasley and Zouch of Lubbesthorpe, Leicestershire. Above, a moulded niche with a seated figure. Built by Nicholas de Cantilupe, 3rd Baron Cantilupe (c.1301-1355) of Greasley Castle, Nottinghamshire, to house his chantry priests, with consent of William de la Zouche (1299–1352), Archbishop of York from 1342-52, until his death (youngest son of Sir Roger de la Zouche (d.1302) of Lubbesthorpe in Leicestershire (younger brother of William la Zouche, 1st Baron Zouche (1276–1351) of Harringworth, Northamptonshire)). Archbishop Zouche was a son of the second cousin of Nicholas de Cantilupe, both Lubbesthorpe and Harringworth were former Cantilupe manors inherited by the Zouche family from the senior line of Cantilupe, Lord of Abergavenny, after the death of Sir George de Cantilupe (1251-1273). Oriel window, shield at left, arms of Cantilupe of Greasley; at right Zouche of Lubbesthorpe, Leicestershire: (Azure, ten bezants, 4,3,2,1 a difference of the arms of the senior branches of Zouche (of Ashby and of Haryngworth, who bore Gules, ten bezants, 4,3,2,1).
