Very few images of Caion are likely to have survived to this day, and definitive information about the authors remains obscure. Under EU law, an image with no authorship disclosure, published around that date, is believed to be public domain. Given the scarcity of historical documentation in Romania, it is quite likely that the topical information may not be obsolete, but rather under-researched, and that the original authors may be known, and may still qualify for copyrights (i.e. they did not die within 70 years after taking such photographs). It is therefore safe to assume that at least some of the republished images may still be under some sort of copyright.
