English: Watercolour painting by an unknown Burmese artist depicting 19th century Burmese life. Caption: "Kah Gyeethee. Dancer on cart." "Here we have a Kah Gyee Thee or Dancer, with a small company of musicians [...] She stands in front of the Cart keeping time to the music by the movements and contortions of her body and limbs, but barely moving her feet. In this particular case, the Cart is being driven slowly before some great offering to a Pagoda or Monastery, or at what is called a "life freeing feast"." More description at [1] |
