Angkor (Cambodia, early 13th century) - The Bayon, built under the rule of king Jayavarman VII, is one of the few temples in Angkor that was consecrated to the Buddha from the start. The building is famous for its face-towers, depicting the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara.
