Licensing
[edit]This image is of a cover of an audio recording, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher of the work or the artist(s) which produced the recording or cover artwork in question. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of such covers
qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. | |
Fair use for Back to the Light
[edit]Though this image is subject to copyright, I, User:Sue Wallace, believe its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws for the article mentioned above because:
- Used in infobox for the album
- Source: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000000OCJ Amazon.com
- Low resolution
- Is only as much resolution as necessary.
- Image is derived from a scan (the creator of this digital version is irrelevant as the copyright in all equivalent images is still held by the same party). Copyright held by the record company, claimed as fair use regardless.
- Entire front cover is used.
- The image illustrates and confirms the visual appearance of the album in an article whose subject and title is the same.
- No copyright free image has been found and any derivative would still be subject to copyright.
- This image and others like it are already widely distributed to identify the album as part of music reviews and biographical catalogs and reviews, so I believe I degrade no market value by providing it here.
