Notable members include merchant Samuel Backhouse, royalist John Backhouse, alchemist William Backhouse, countess Flower Backhouse & others. From Sir William Dugdale's 1658 The history of St. Pauls cathedral in London. William Backhouse was a benefactor of St. Paul's Cathedral and so is recorded in the book.
