DescriptionBEVERWYCK SITE, PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, MORRIS COUNTY.jpg
English: THIS IS AN AREA WHICH SPANS FROM CIRCA 1730 TO CIRCA 1970 AND WAS THE SITE OF A REVOLUTIONARY WAR AGRICULTURAL ESTATE. BETWEEN 1772 AND 1803 IT WAS A FOCAL POINT OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL ACTIVITY. A FIRE IN 1803 CONSUMED MUCH OF THE ESTATE BUT IT CONTINUED AS AN AGRICULTURAL ENTITY THROUGH THE 19TH CENTURY. NOW ONLY SCATTERED RUINS REMAIN WITH CLUSTERS OF ROCKS INDICATING WHERE BUILDING STOOD. VERY VERY EXTENSIVE SCRUB VEGETATION AND TREES COVER THE SITE NOW.
