Description
English: "Gathering around a score" by Charles Baude (1853-1935) after Albert Aublet (1851-1938). The print shows Jules Massenet rehearsing Manon with American soprano Sibyl Sanderson in Pierre Loti's drawing room (Pierre Loti seems to be shown either by the piano or on the stairs). The original painting was shown at the 1888 Salon. Charles Baude's etching illustrated the cover of the magazine Le Théâtre in July 1889.
Français : « Autour d'une partition » par Charles Baude (1853-1935) d'après Albert Aublet (1851-1938). La scène se passe dans le salon de Pierre Loti lors d'une répétition de Manon avec Jules Massenet et la soprano américaine Sibyl Sanderson (Pierre Loti semble figurer soit à côté du piano, soit sur l'escalier). Le tableau d'Albert Ablet fut exposé au Salon de 1888. L'eau-forte de Charles Baude illustra la couverture de la revue Le Théâtre en juillet 1889.
