Description
English: On the fifth day of the mission, Artemis 1 entered the Moon's sphere of influence. This picture, taken by the Orion spacecraft's Optical Navigation Camera on November 21, 2022, shows the far side of the moon (Mare Orientale being visible in this picture) as the capsule and European Service Module perform a flyby of the natural satellite, reaching an altitude of less than 80 miles (130 km) before entering a distant retrograde lunar orbit.
