English: These pictures can be used as a guide to locating the plaque marking the exact spot of the Assassination of Ninoy Aquino.
The plaque, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, outside current (2023) Gate 11, Terminal 1, is inaccessible to the public, but nonetheless still visible from the terminal windows, and high-resolution satellite photography.
A footstep or two more after File:Aquino Assassination Plaque 213035.jpg as we board the plane over the jet bridge, the plaque is highlighted within a dark reflection on the glass. We note the orientation of the plaque, at a 45 degree angle to the concrete blocks, which are themselves at an approximate 30 degree angle to the red stripes.
We are looking southwest, from the calculations below.
We also can use the red and white line exiting the photo to further orient ourselves on satellite maps.
Red stripes
No Parking Area (NPA): Aircraft parking prohibited, reserved for the jet bridge, etc.
No Parking Line (NPL): A line that delimits and fills up (through diagonal stripes) a Non-Parking area (NPA).
Azimuths
(from measuring on satellite photos)
Red stripes: 50° going toward us /230° going away (NE/SW).
Pavement blocks: (they are parallel to Runway 06/24 (azimuth: 061°/241°). 61° going toward us, 241° going away.
Pavement block angle vs. red stripes: 61° - 50° = 11° .
Pavement blocks vs. plaque: ~45°, so plaque orientation is 241° - 45° = 196° i.e., SSW / NNE.
Red/white line leaves the photo at 249°.
Concrete block size: 6.0 x 3.0 meters
So the plaque is seven meters, (249° - 180° =) 69° from the beginning (east end) of the red/white line.
