Description
Français : Statue dédiée au culte d'Antinoüs, marbre, vers 120 de notre ère. Le jeune Bythinien Antinoüs était l'amant de l'empereur Hadrien. Il se noya accidentellement dans le Nil et Hadrien, inconsolable, le héroïsa et en fit un demi-dieu. Philhellène, l'empereur fit exécuter cette statue et la déposa au sanctuaire de Delphes où elle fut découverte en 1894. Musée archéologique de Delphes, Grèce.
English: Cult statue of Antinoos. Young bythinian, beloved companion of emperor Hadrian. He was drowned in the Nile, and the sad emperor heroised him and worshiped him as a demigod. This statue was discovered in 1894. Archaeological Museum of Delphi, Greece.
