English: Inside the narthex one gets a good impression of how rich the church looked in its heyday. The roof is particularly well decorated. The Wikipedia has "The date of its construction is not known, but the earliest dated inscription on its walls is from 1031. It was founded by the Pahlavuni family and was used by the archbishops of Ani (many of whom belonged to that dynasty). It has a plan of a type called an inscribed quatrefoil with corner chambers.
