English: German-American brewer William J. Lemp Jr. maintained a 200-acre estate on the bluffs of the Meramec River in St. Louis County MO. The "big house", known as Alswel, was built between 1911 and 1914 in the "Tyrolean Chalet" style. This image shows the westward view from a scenic viewing platform overlooking the Meramec River valley that was once part of the estate, but is now on an adjacent residential lot that resulted from subdividing the estate in the 1980s.
