It isalso agreed that additions by like contributions may be made tothe sum now deposited for the same purposes and benefits, andat any time hereafter. This Endowment Fund for the churchyard hasgrown by contributions and legacies until the principalis now between ten and eleven thousand dollars. Fromits inception Mr. Stephen D. Harris has been its treas-urer and chairman of the trustees committee on thechurchyard. It has been said in a preceding chapter,in referring to the services of Mr. Harris as treasurerof the general endowment funds, that his loyalty andfidelity and enthusiasm in the administration of thesetrust funds is beyond estimation of value. For,sad to say, its position is unique in the PresbyterianChurch. There is none other in Philadelphia. Thereis none at all in New York. Old Pine Street has theonly Colonial churchyard that the Presbyterian Churchcan boast of in a great metropolis.
