Summary

Description A U.S. Navy Douglas A-4B Skyhawk (BuNo 144987) from Attack Squadron VA-93 Det.Q Blue Blazers intercepting a Soviet Navy Beriev Be-6 (NATO reporting name "Madge") north of Japan in 1964. VA-93 Det.Q was assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 59 (CVSG-59) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington (CVS-20) for a deployment to the Western Pacific and Vietnam from 20 February to 11 August 1964. Note that the A-4B wears the "NG" tail code of Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9), to which VA-93 was regularly assigned, and not the "NT" tail code of CVSG-59.
