Summary
| Description | 330-PSA-254-60 (164482AC): Firing of the USAF Atlas ICBM from Air Force Missile Test Center, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, October 13, 1960. The primary purpose was to test the new Atlas guidance system and a new ablative reentry vehicle material. Additional experiments aboard the nose cone included black mice and other scientific research items. The reentry vehicle landed in its intended impact area, some 5,000 statute miles down the Atlantic Missile Range. (9/9/2015). |
