Description2017-Woolwich, Bell Water river stairs 04.jpg
English: View from the north of so-called watermen's stairs at the end of Bell Water Gate in Woolwich, South East London, UK. Central Woolwich had five river stairs in the mid-18th century but Bell Water Gate was the main landing point for boats in and out of the town, due to its central location between Woolwich Dockyard, the Ropeyard and the Warren (later Royal Arsenal), and its proximity to the High Street. Most parts date from a reconstruction of 1824.
