Summary
| Description | Joe Muller and Sons, Co-Owner Tom Muller digs down to check the soil condition of his crop of tomatoes, that receive underground micro irrigation, in Woodland, CA on Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2015. U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) District Conservationist Phil Hogan worked with him to make the application, what he says is an easy process. The farm qualified for an Environmental Quality Incentives Program cost share. California is currently undergoing a prolonged drought. This farm produces a 30-50% greater yield, due to precise watering along these ¾ mile rows of tomatoes. The buried plastic tubing with built in water emitters are 10” below the ground and are positioned using GPS. His orchards use micro sprinklers.
