English: A proposal for a new British Empire flag by a Canadian writing to the St James's Gazette. They observed how the badge representing Canada on its Red Ensign had evolved to include more provinces as they entered Confederation, and theorized that other British colonies would develop arms in the same manner. Eventually, they would all be amalgamated to form one flag of the British Empire. This unified badge would be placed on a white disc defacing a British ensign, just like the Canadian Red Ensign.
