Description
English: In this illustration, one can see an elaboration of the crossbow volley technique. This manual adds a row of "advancing crossbows" to the Tang formation, which refers to those who have already loaded their weapons and are now making their way to the front of the formation. "Teaching the Crossbow Method" 教弩法, from Zeng Gongliang 曾公亮, Wu jing zong yao qian ji 武經總要前集, ca. 1044 CE.
