Notes: Photograph shows Abby D. Munro (1837-1913). Originally from Bristol, Rhode Island, Munro relocated to Charleston, South Carolina and began a long teaching career at the Laing Normal and Industrial School in 1869 or 1870. She became principal of the school in 1876, serving until her death in 1913. Title devised by Library staff. "A.D. Manro Charleston" written below image on photograph. DLC "Miss Abby D.
