Notes
Sotirous Lekatsas Papasotiriou was born in Ithaci Greece. He traveled to Lesvos around 1910. He did humanitarian work with refugees after the Battle of Lesbos in 1912 where they gained their independence and became part of Greece. He married Fotini Zacharia and had five children: Efstratios, Theopisti, Nitsa, Maria and Anna. He settled on the island and opened a grocery store. He amassed a small fortune. He bought property and built a huge mansion overlooking the harbor. He was a priest at the Church of St. Symeon, Mytilene, a portion of the church was built by him. Sotirous added the Church Bell Tower and served as a priest at the church from 1917–1921. Regrettably, he died young at the age of 31, leaving behind five young children.
