Hashmi was born to a [[Muslim]] father and [[Christian]] mother in [[Mumbai]]. He is a [[Muslim]] by religion from his father's side. He is the nephew of director, and producer [[Mahesh Bhatt]] and [[Mukesh Bhatt]]. He is the cousin of director [[Mohit Suri]] actress and director [[Pooja Bhatt]], actor [[Rahul Bhatt]], and actress [[Alia Bhatt]].
