The Vice-Chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology serves as the chief executive officer, responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative functions of the university. Appointed by the President of Bangladesh, who serves as the Chancellor of BUET, the Vice-Chancellor plays a central role in guiding the university's strategic direction and ensuring compliance with national educational policies.[2] This role includes heading the BUET Syndicate, the institution’s highest governing body, which makes key decisions on academic standards, policies, and resource allocation.[3]
Additionally, the VC collaborates with various university bodies, such as the Academic Council and the Finance Committee, to implement educational reforms and enhance BUET’s research capabilities.[4] Vice-Chancellors are often senior professors with extensive experience and academic expertise, contributing to BUET’s reputation as one of Bangladesh’s leading engineering institutions.[5]
