Sample News Group, LLC. purchased The Standard-Journal Daily Item from GateHouse Media in September 2008.[4]

The area's longest-serving newspaper, the Standard-Journal is a multi-media company serving the Susquehanna River Valley since 1890 and is known for providing local news and sports information to readers.
