St. Thomas vs Strake Jesuit Rivalry is rivalry between competing football teams in the Houston area that began in 1964. St. Thomas holding the overall lead in the series in football 29-26-1. Strake Jesuit produced some of the best players in all of Houston like [1]David King, King was a dominant force on the football field at strake jesuit. after an exceptional high school career where he lettered three years, david went to the university of oklahomα. α 7th-round pick of the philadelphia eagles, david played for five different teams well playing in the NFL.For St. Thomas they had a beast on the Oline in Brian Gruber. Gruber was one of the best Olinemen in Houston out of high school Gruber committed to play at Vanderbilt. [2]Gruber was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2000. He played in every game in his college career (44 games), including starts in each of his last 33 contests. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a undrafted free agent.
Basketball
[edit]St. Thomas also has a wining record in basketball going 29-24 aginst Strake Jesuit. Strakes 1995-96 Basketball Team was one of the best in all of Texas. Stake had Calvin Murphy jr the son of fromer nba player Calvin Murphy.sr. Strake also had Michael LeBlanc a 6,7 SF who played at Houston Christian University. LeBlanc played around the world and mainly for the SINGAPORE SLINGERS. Tyrell Whisenton from St. Thomas Cecil Tyrell “T” Whisenton rose fast and became a dynamic two-sport athlete for Eagle Athletics. During his career at St. Thomas, Tyrell lettered in basketball all four years and lettered in Track and Field his freshman and sophomore year. Over the course of St. Thomas career, Tyrell rose to be one of Houston’s basketball stars and helped push St. Thomas into the record-books with 20-plus win seasons. Kurt Daum one of the best shooters from St. Thomas Daum was Texas all state and had college interst from of University Central Florida and John Carroll University but went to go play juco at frank phillips junior college.Daum was a PF and one of the best shooters especially for his postion. Strake Jesuit Also has a future NBA prospect and current tcu player Jace Posey. also the son of Former NBA Champion James Posey.
Baseball
[edit]- St. Thomas had one of the best baseball teams in the state and they had Craig Biggio as a coach and his son Cavan Biggio who went on to play in the MLB. Cavan says. “[3]I owe a lot to the coaches here and the school for establishing that confidence. This is where my journey started and accelerated. I’ll always be grateful.” Strake Jesuit has one of the best baseball teams right now with 4 mlb draft picks.
