Spielvereinigung Wesseling-Urfeld 19/46 e.V. is a football club from the city of Wesseling in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis in the south of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the largest and most successful men's team among the six[1] football clubs based in the city.

History

[edit]

The club was founded on July 1, 2000 through a merger of the two 1919 and 1946 founded district clubs from Wesseling-Mitte and Urfeld, the SV Wesseling and Blau-Weiß Urfeld. The aim was to establish a strong football club for the whole city of Wesseling. The first men's team was relegated from the Mittelrheinliga to the Landesliga in 2013. Two years later, they managed to gain promotion again, before being relegated to the Landesliga again in 2018. The direct promotion succeeded, before the Spielvereinigung was again relegated from the Mittelrheinliga in 2022 and was relegated to the Bezirksliga in the following 2022/23 season. In 2024, the club was relegated to the Kreisliga A.

The women's team has been playing in the Frauen-Mittelrheinliga since the 2016/2017 season.[2]

Stadium

[edit]

The club plays its home games in the municipal Ulrike-Meyfarth-Stadion in the city center. As an athletics stadium, it is part of a vast complex of various sports and playing facilities and is also connected to a large youth stadium with artificial turf and the municipal swimming pool.
