Samuel Peter William Collins[1] is a Black[2] British Motorsport broadcaster and journalist. Since [insert year] he has been a component of Formula 1's in-house broadcasting and coverage as part of F1 TV. He is also a North Herts District Councillor for Hitchin's Highbury ward has been a prospective parliamentary candidate for the Liberal Democrats on a number of occasions.[3][4]

[edit]Collins was Deputy Editor of Racecar Engineering Magazine from 2005 to 2017.
Political Career
[edit]Collins joined the Liberal Democrats in 2016, after the Brexit Referendum.[5] He was first elected as the councillor for Hitchin Highbury in 2018,[6] gaining the seat from the Conservatives. He was re-elected at elections in 2022 and 2024.[7][8]
Collins was selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Hitchin and Harpenden constituency in 2019. He came second by 6,895 votes, but increased the Liberal Democrat vote share to 35.4%, an increase of 24.8% of total vote share on the prior election.[9]
It was announced in 2022 that Collins would be the Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate for the new Hitchin constituency at the next general election.[3] However, in 2023, Hitchin Liberal Democrats announced a new candidate for the role, Chris Lucas.[4]
