S. Joe Qin (born 1963) an Chinese-American academic who serves as the President of Lingnan University since 2023. He is also a Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science.[1][2]
Education and background[edit]
Qin obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Automatic Control from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, in 1984 and 1987 respectively.[3] He further studied and graduated with Ph.D. in Automation at same university, in 1989.[4]
In 1989, Qin moved to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Maryland, and completed his education in June 1992.[5]
Fellowships[edit]
Qin is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,[6] International Federation of Automatic Control.[7]
