Quick and Dirty was a limited edition vinyl release for Record Store Day 2018 by the alternative rock band Tad.[1] It was released in 2018 on Incineration Ceremony Recordings, a record label started by Tad frontman Thomas Andrew Doyle.[2] The album includes six previously unreleased songs recorded in 1999, as well as never before released live versions of five older songs recorded in 1995. It is also available for digital download.
Reception
[edit]The album was released coincidentally with the Sub Pop vinyl release of Thomas Andrew Doyle "Incineration Ceremony" album. News about the release was somewhat overshadowed by the announcement of Doyle's new record label Incineration Ceremony Recordings.[3] The album was included on Kerrang! 10 Must-buy Metal Releases for Record Store Day 2018[4], as well as Record Store Day lists from BrooklynVegan[5], Classic Rock (magazine)[6], and Metal Injection.[7] Record Collector Magazine described the previously unreleased studio recordings from 1999 as evidence "the band still had the chops to write strong material but by that time members were regularly late to practice and hearts were no longer in it."[8], while fans of the band described the record as a "True grunge punk masterclass."[9] and reflected on how the now dormant band impacted the evolution of Grunge music. "This recording will leave you with a sense of the substantially massive sonic foot-print the band left in its wake that still ripples and quakes the core of heavy music today." [10][11]
