The Indian Cost Accounts Service often Abbreviated as ICoAS is a Central Government (Group A) Service which was constituted in 1978. The recruitment rules were notified in 1982. It is a Central Civil Service (CCS) only having Professional Cost Accountants and Chartered Accountant. Chief Adviser Cost is the managing authority and Central Responsibility of Cadre. Even though the Cadre Controlling Authority is Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance unlike other Central Government (Group A) Services they are appointed to Various Department of Various Ministries of The Government of India.
