Good Boy (Korean: 굿보이) is an upcoming South Korean television series written by Lee Dae-il, directed by Shim Na-yeon , and starring Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok . The series depicts the counterattack of the "Olympic Avengers" against an era full of injustice, where fallen sports heroes become police officers. It is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2024.
Synopsis
[edit]Good Boy tells about the story of former Olympic medalists who become police officers through special recruitment and fight against the world while wearing their police ID cards around their necks.
Cast and characters
[edit]- Park Bo-gum as Yoon Dong-ju[1]
- A former boxing gold medalist turned police officer of Violent Crimes Special Forces through the special recruitment system for medalists, which was revived after 11 years.
- Kim So-hyun as Ji Han-na[1]
- A former shooting gold medalist, who was called the "shooting goddess" turned police officer in the Violent Crimes Special Forces.
- Oh Jung-se as Min Joo-young[1]
- A 7th-grade civil servant at the Korea Customs Service, who received a commendation from the commissioner for his diligence and sincerity but hides a great desire behind his good-natured smile.
- Lee Sang-yi as Kim Jong-hyun[1]
- A special force police officer, who was a silver medalist in fencing but quit due to an injury. He freely uses the three-section baton for suppression like a sword and subdues criminals.
- Heo Sung-tae as Go Man-sik[1]
- A former bronze medalist in wrestling turned team leader of Violent Crimes Special Forces.
- Tae Won-seok as Shin Jae-hong[1]
- A former bronze medalist in discus throwing turned police officer of Violent Crimes Special Forces.
Production

[edit]In February 2021, Good Boy was announced as part of Studio&NEW's drama lineup and the script was written by Lee Dae-il, who wrote Life on Mars (2018) and the first and second seasons of Chief of Staff (2019).[2]
SLL, Studio&NEW, and Drama House Studio managed the production.[3]
According to Joy News 24, the cast and crew would be holding a full script reading on March 21, 2024.[4]
Casting
[edit]In July 2023, Park Bo-gum and Oh Jung-se were reportedly cast as lead actors of the series.[5][6] In August 2023, Kim So-hyun was reportedly cast as the lead actress.[7]
Park and Kim were officially confirmed to portray the main characters in January 2024, while Oh, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok confirmed their appearances in July 2024.[8][9]
Filming
[edit]Principal photography began in late March 2024.[4]
On August 28, 2024, it was reported that the filming was temporarily suspended after Park sustained a minor leg injury while doing an action scene in Busan and already receiving treatment at a hospital in Seoul.[10]
Release
[edit]JTBC announced that Good Boy will air in the second half of 2024.[3]
