Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes (also known as simply Hobbs & Reyes) is an upcoming American action film written by Chris Morgan. It is the second spin-off film in the Fast & Furious franchise, set between the events of Fast X (2023) and Fast XI (2026). The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa as Luke Hobbs and Dante Reyes respectively.
Negotiations for a sequel to Hobbs & Shaw (2019) began in November 2019, with the sequel entering development in 2020. Johnson made an original idea for the sequel in November 2021, and work on the screenplay was ongoing. The sequel production was stalled in December 2022, and a new film set between Fast X and Fast XI entered development in June 2023, with Morgan set to write the screenplay.

Production
[edit]In November 2019, producer Hiram Garcia confirmed ongoing conversations for a sequel to Hobbs & Shaw (2019).[1] By March of 2020, Dwayne Johnson stated that a sequel was in development;[2] while Garcia officially confirmed the project was in active development a month later following the box office success of Hobbs & Shaw. Chris Morgan was announced as the screenwriter.[3][4] Johnson stated that the project would introduce new characters.[5] In November 2021, Johnson revealed that he had personally developed the original idea for the sequel, which he described as "the antithesis of Fast & Furious" and that he presented the concept to Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley, as well as Garcia and Morgan; elaborating that the sequel would take immediate precedence over the rest of his film-slate, and stating that he would begin working on the film once production completes on the holiday-action film Red One (2024).[6] Garcia confirmed that work on the screenplay is ongoing, categorizing the project as "very ambitious".[7]
In June 2023, Johnson announced that he will star as Luke Hobbs in the next film of the franchise, which serves as a direct continuation of Fast X (2023), with its sequel following thereafter. The movie is not considered a spin-off, or a direct-sequel to Hobbs & Shaw. He stated that the plot follows Hobbs as he pursues Dante Reyes. Morgan will return to the franchise to write the screenplay. Johnson will serve as a producer, alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Vin Diesel, Samantha Vincent, Morgan, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Neal H. Moritz. The project will be a joint-venture production between Universal Pictures, Seven Bucks Productions, One Race Films, Chris Morgan Productions, Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and Original Film.[8] Later that month, it was announced that the film's title would be Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes, and that Jason Momoa would reprise his role as Reyes from Fast X.[9]
