Big Tree is an upcoming American animated film based on the book of the same name by Brian Selznick, which itself was based on an idea from Steven Spielberg and Chris Meledandri. The book was published on April 4, 2023 and features almost 300 black-and-white illustrations.
Premise
[edit]Two sycamore seeds named Merwin and Louise try to save the world while finding a safe harbor for themselves after leaving their Mama Tree. It is "a story about nature from nature's point of view", as described by Selznick, and spans the prehistoric age to modern times.[1]
Production
[edit]In June 2022, Steven Spielberg and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri conceived an idea for a new film titled Big Tree, which would be published as a Scholastic book by Brian Selznick on April 4, 2023.[2]
