Biography

Asim Bin Saleh Al Dayani (born September 3, 1999) is an Indian professional Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. He was born and raised in Barkas, Hyderabad, Telangana, and attended Loyola Model School for both his primary and secondary education. Asim comes from a large family with 13 siblings, including 12 brothers and 1 sister. His family is involved in various businesses, such as schools, garment shops, and electrical appliances. Despite these resources, Asim faced significant personal and financial challenges, particularly following the deaths of his father on March 11, 2020, and his mother on July 6, 2020.^[1]

Education

Asim completed his intermediate education at Sri Chandra College and graduated from CAT Degree College.

Career

Amateur Muay Thai Asim's journey in Muay Thai began at the age of 16 when he joined Star Muay Thai & MMA clubs for self-defense training. His talent was soon recognized by M.I. Naveed, the Assistant National Coach for Muay Thai India, who mentored him and helped prepare him for national-level competitions. Asim made his amateur Muay Thai debut on April 22, 2018, representing Telangana in the National Federation Cup Muay Thai, where he won a Bronze medal. He continued to excel in his amateur career, securing a Gold medal in Pune against Maharashtra and another Gold at the Naresh Surya Classic Fitness Expo in January 2019.

In February 2019, Asim ventured into MMA, competing in the All India Mixed Martial Arts Association Federation (AIMMAF) in Bangalore, where he earned a Bronze medal. Later that year, he won another Bronze medal in Mangalore in November 2019.

Professional Muay Thai and MMA Asim turned professional in January 2019, competing as a super lightweight in the Muay Thai Gala Ring at Lulu Mall, where he finished as a runner-up. In February 2020, he made his professional MMA debut as a bantamweight in Yuva Khel Utsav 2.0 in Mumbai, where he won a Silver medal.

Professional Kickboxing & International Competitions In 2021, Asim competed in professional kickboxing, finishing as the runner-up. He won two fights, including victories against Assam and Kerala, but lost the final match against a fighter from Mumbai due to an injury.

Asim competed in the prestigious WMC (World Muay Thai Council) 5 Series, where he participated in all five series and earned the title of WMC Champion. In February 2022, he traveled to Dubai for advanced training with professional fighters and boxing world champions. He became the first Indian male athlete to compete in the UAE Muay Thai Nation Championship, reaching the semi-finals and securing a Bronze medal for India. Later in 2022, Asim won a Gold medal at the Amateur National Kickboxing Championship against a West Bengal fighter.

Recent Achievements On January 8, 2023, Asim won the WMC State Title Belt for Telangana, competing against Aniket Panthi from Madhya Pradesh.

Personal Life

Asim married on April 28, 2023. In June 2023, he traveled to Thailand for further Muay Thai training. Throughout his career, he has received significant support from key figures such as Mohammed Zubair and Shaik Shafath Ali (Saif).
