The 2018 Supercopa de Catalunya was a match played between the two highest rated Catalan clubs from La Liga, at the time FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol. The match was played at Camp d'Esports on the 7th of March, 2018. The attendance was 10,576.[1]

The match ended goalless after 90 minutes and went to a penalty shootout. Barcelona were the first to kick. All four of Barcelona's penalty takers (Paco Alcácer, Sergi Palencia, Yerry Mina, and Abel Ruiz) scored, while Sergi Darder and José Manuel Jurado missed for RCD Espanyol.[2] The penalty shootout ended with a 4-2 win[3] for Barcelona despite Álex López and Mario Hermoso both scoring their penalties for Espanyol. This was Barcelona's second Supercopa de Catalunya title.[4]

Marcus McGuane becomes the first English player to represent Barcelona since Gary Lineker

Marcus McGuane became the first English player in 29 years to represent FC Barcelona since Gary Lineker after coming on for Aleix Vidal in the 77th minute of the game.[5][6]
