Discipline[4] will be the tenth studio album (thirteenth overall) from American pop/R&B singer Janet, to be released February 26 2008 (in Poland February 1 [5]) by Island Records. Jackson has been working with producers such as Rodney Jerkins (who produced the lead single with producer D'Mile), Polow da Don, Pharrell, Jazze Pha and Johnta Austin. The album was executive produced by Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid and Jackson herself.

Production

In July, 2007 it was announced that Janet Jackson had signed a recording contract with Universal Music Group's Island Records, after her four-album deal with Virgin Records was fulfilled with the release of her last album 20 Y.O.. Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid was announced as executive producer of the new album, planning a different sound than that of her last album.[6]

Gospel singer Tonex also said in a recent interview that he and popular R&B producer Rodney Jerkins (a.k.a. "Darkchild") are preparing to begin working on new tracks for Janet's upcoming album.

A Passion For Discipline

"Discipline has been much on my mind," she says. "It's the idea that unifies the songs on this record. As a concept, and even a lifestyle, discipline goes extremely deep. It can be applied to so much about ourselves. In my case, I see it as one of defining aspects of my character. Discipline was there for me from the start. But it was not until this record that I began to understand its full meaning."

"In putting Discipline out front-- as both the title of the album and title of a song about sexual surrender--I wanted to announce that I was venturing into new creative waters. That meant working with producers like Jermaine Dupri, Rodney Jerkins, and Ne-Yo, whose songs spoke to the immediacy of my emotions. Like all my records, this one, whether intentional or not, has autobiographical roots. It's difficult for me to work any other way. I don't feel it, if I don't believe it, I can't sing it."

"So Discipline, as a storyline, begins in my childhood which someone could see as a classic study in discipline. Discipline was part of a family culture that I absorbed. I was born with it."

Confirmed Tracks

Singles

Island Records officially debuted the lead single of the album, "Feedback", on American radio station Z100 and on her new website on December 12 2007. "Luv" is currently being considered for the second single, as said by Label head, L.A. Reid.
