Beginnings

Devlin was inspired by some other rappers that were around in the UK, and took interest at the age of 8. He started producing music at 9 years old. In February 2010, Devlin signed to major label Island Records/Universal.[5] although there had been reports that five major labels were bidding to sign him prior to this deal. Devlin previously had slots on Flava FM and Rinse FM, and released his debut mixtape "Tales From The Crypt" in 2006. This was followed by another, "The Art Of Rollin". Devlin was named by the BBC in their "Sound Of" list of the most promising music acts for 2010, alongside Ellie Goulding and Giggs.[6] In the Summer of 2010, Devlin released his first single, "Shot Music", which featured the rapper Giggs, but it was said by Devlin himself that it did not count as his first official single.[7]

Debut album

His debut album, "Bud, Sweat and Beers" was announced and is due for release on October 29, 2010 for digital download and on November 1, 2010 for as a CD single. The second single off the album is "Brainwashed", which was released on August 8, 2010 in the UK and debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number 31, and number 11 on the UK R&B Chart. The second single, "Runaway" was released on 24 October 2010, where it debuted at number 15; marking Devlin's most successful single to date. The single was succeeded by the release of the debut album, "Bud, Sweat and Beers" which was released on 1 November 2010 and debuted at number 21 on the UK Albums Chart. A track from the album, entitled "London City", entered the UK chart at number 181 following strong digital downloads from the album[8]. The third single to be released from the album is "Marching Through the Fog", although a video for "Let It Go" featuring Labrinth is currently in the works too.
