Dan Ilic (born 20 November 1981) is an Australian comedian, and filmmaker well known for controversial viral videos, his roles on The Ronnie Johns Half Hour and Hungry Beast and his play Beaconsfield: The Musical.

An accomplished filmmaker, broadcaster, comedian, and journalist Ilic has had a varied career spanning television, radio and new media.

Ilic is Executive Producer of online entertainment production house Downwind Media. The viral video production company’s profile skyrocketed after Ilic wrote and directed a clip satirising Tourism Australia’s So where the bloody hell are you? campaign in 2006.[1],[2] Ever since then Ilic has written, directed and performed in a number of highly successful viral video campaigns for progressive lobby group GetUp!, including clips satirising Fuel Watch, Climate Clever and a hugely popular sketch where he played Australian Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks on MTV Cribs. A sketch he wrote after meeting Major Michael Mori on a flight from LA to Sydney.[3]

During the 2007 Australian federal election Ilic produced and directed satirical online video content for Fairfax Digital, his impression of Sydney broadcaster Alan Jones [4],[5],[6] poked fun at the election debates. Ilic also produced and directed several clips of Australian comedy trio The Axis of Awesome fronted by his former Ronnie Johns colleague Jordan Raskopoulos. These clips were viral smash hits in the lead up the 2007 Election, and were played on every major news bulletin the week of the release. So popular was the Howard Vs Rudd rap [7][8] song that even top rating Sydney radio broadcasters Kyle & Jackie O played the rap to then leader of the Opposition Kevin Rudd.

In 2008 Ilic moved to Melbourne to direct The Mansion, a 13 part satirical news program hosted by Michael Chamberlin and Charlie Pickering for The Comedy Channel on Foxtel [9]
