Corbin Bleu

Corbin Bleu Reivers (born February 21, 1989),[1] better known as Corbin Bleu, is an American actor, model, dancer, and singer. He is perhaps best known for his roles in the High School Musical film series, the Discovery Kids television series Flight 29 Down, and the Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In!. He also pursued a solo career and released his debut album Another Side on May 1, 2007. The album debuted at number thirty-six on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 18,000 copies in its first week.[2] Bleu released his second album, Speed of Light, on March 10, 2009 in the U.S.[3]

Acting career

In 1996, his family relocated to Los Angeles and he soon gained a recurring role on the TV series High Incident and a guest star appearance on ER. Bleu also had roles in 1998's Malcolm & Eddie, as Matthew, and Cover Me: Based on the True Life of an FBI Family, as Nick Elderby, in 2000. He also had small roles in films like Soldier, Family Tree, Mystery Men, Galaxy Quest and Amanda Show. Eventually, he landed a lead role in the 2004 film, Catch That Kid alongside actors Kristen Stewart and Max Thieriot, He next starred as Nathan McHugh in Flight 29 Down, a drama series about a group of teens stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. He also has a small role as Spencer on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, his first appearance being in the episode entitled Guide to: The School Play. In 2006, Bleu played "Chad" in High School Musical, the immensely popular Emmy award-winning Disney Channel Original Movie. He also guest starred in the premiere episode of Disney's Hannah Montana as Johnny Collins alongside actresses Miley Cyrus and Emily Osment, Bleu's next film, Jump In! co-starring actress and R&B vocalist Keke Palmer, as well as Bleu's father David Reivers, premiered on January 12, 2007, and has since become one of the highest rated Disney Channel Original Movies.[citation needed] In fall 2009, he landed a lead role in the Bleu appeared 2009 film, Free Style (film) as Cale Bryant, in 2009 The CW Television Network's new show The Beautiful Life: TBL, alongside actresses Sara Paxton and Mischa Barton, The show was canceled after two episodes.

2006-2007: Another Side

Bleu has also pursued a singing career, signing a deal with Hollywood Records, a Disney owned label. His debut album, Another Side, was released in May 2007. The album debuted at #36 on the Billboard Top 200 album charts, selling 18,000 in its first week. Corbin worked with hit-maker Ne-Yo on "I Get Lonely," and other performers such as Matthew Gerrard, Eric Hudson and more. A music video for his first single "Push It to the Limit" premiered on the Disney Channel, and was used to promote Jump In! a Disney Channel Original Movie in which Bleu starred. "Push It to the Limit" reached the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #15. Bleu toured with fellow HSM cast members from late November 2006 to late January 2007 in High School Musical: The Concert, performing in about 40 different cities. To promote his debut album, Bleu performed at the NextFest tour, along with Aly & AJ, Drake Bell, and Bianca Ryan.

2008-present: Speed of Light

In a recent interview Billboard, Bleu stated that he has begun working on his follow-up album. Bleu told Billboard, "There will be a lot of differences with the second album. First of all, it's just more personal. I'm involved in every aspect of the writing. As far as the direction of the music, it's very different. I wanted this album to have something that was a little bit of rock, a little bit of R&B and a little bit of pop." Producer Eric Hudson is attached to the majority of the project, along with songwriter/lyricist Claude Kelly. Bleu performed unreleased tracks like "Close", "Whatever It Takes", and "Champion" on a summer concert tour with singer/actor Justin Stein. The tracks are set to be in the album. Speed of Light was due out on March 10, 2009 via Hollywood Records. The album failed to debut on Billboard Top 200 album charts. According to sources, the album sold less than 4,000 in its first week, despite promotion from MySpace.com. The album spawned singles "Celebrate You" and "Moments That Matter," which was released with a music video.[10]
