Previously known as The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam).[1] The Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Indonesian: Kementerian Koordinator Bidang Politik dan Keamanan, abbreviated Kemenko Polkam) is the Indonesian government ministry in charge of the planning and policy co-ordination, as well as synchronisation of policies in the affairs of politics and national security. This Ministry is led by a "Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs" (locally abbreviated as Menko Polkam). Throughout its history, the post was usually occupied by retired Armed forces high-ranking officers, but under Joko Widodo's cabinet, the position was previously held by a politician of civilian background, Mahfud MD.[2][3] This position is currently held by Budi Gunawan.
