In recent years, Coginchaug has been competitive in track, golf, basketball and softball. The Coginchaug Softball team in particular has earned considerable accolades over the course of their recent championship run. The softball team has won eight CIAC state class "s" championship titles in the last ten years. The 2006-2007 Basketball season was a phenomenal success, and the "Dream Season" included winning the Shoreline Championship. The boys Cross Country team has won the shoreline championship title in 2004 and 2005, and the girls won the 2005 shoreline title. In 2001, the boys Cross country team won the CIAC state class "s" championship title, its only state championship to date. The soccer team has played hard, but has come up short on wins. The hope is that the underclassmen develop into better athletes.
