Coalyard Miniature Railway
The Coal Yard Miniature Railway opened in 1988, it is within the Severn Valley Railway’s Kidderminster Town Station. It got its name from a coal merchant who worked alongside Kidderminster Town Station until 2004.

History
The railway started as 100 metres of dual gauge track comprising 3 ½” gauge rails laid within 5" gauge rails, to permit operation of both a 5” King Class Locomotive and a 3 ½” Hall class locomotive. The track was unusual in being constructed of continuously welded rails with "dummy" fishplates.

In 1990 a new 7 ¼” gauge aluminium track was laid and then gradually extended until it reached the far end of the Kidderminster Town Station car park. The original line was then removed, making space for a new footpath from the Severn Valley Railway car park to the station. The line originally used wooden sleepers but when these wore out they were then replaced with plastic sleepers.

The Railway is 457 meters long and runs alongside the Severn Valley Railway platforms and past the water column, where one can see many of the Severn Valley's fleet of locomotives. It usually operates with petrol or battery powered locomotives; steam is generally used only during Severn Valley special events. The coaching stock is a mixture of sit astride and sit in coaches. Freight vehicles include a rake of narrow gauge wagons that are to scale and some maintenance trucks that are not to scale.

Signalling System
The Signalling System on the Coal Yard Miniature Railway is based on colour light signals and Staff and Ticket. Arm (Semaphore) signals are not used.

Stations
*Kidderminster High Level, the main terminus
*Sparks Halt
*Bostin Lodge, Where the MPD is
*Tutherend Halt, the far terminus

Motive Power Depot
The junction to the MPD is located a little way beyond Bostin Lodge. There are 12 Roads going into the sheads and entresis to the MPD

From entrance 1 it leads on to a turntable witch has seven roads coming of it (not in cluding the entrance road.

*Road 1 is the Loco pit road.

*Roads 2 and 3 are rased track shed where most steam locomotives are keeped.

*Roads 4 and 5 go in to the centre shed where the air braked stock is keeped and most of the Battery Electric and Petrol Locomotives are keeped.

*Roads 6 and severn are Head shunt sidings that do not lead in to any shed

Then to get the other sheds the locos and coach have to use entrance 2 witch has coming of it 6 more roads

*Roads 7 to 9 go into the 10ft shed in the 10ft there is some vacum braked coaches the Docklands Light Unit and some wagons

*Roads 10 to 12 go into the 8ft shed whitch has the Scale Fright, Class 142 ,Phoebe Rose and some maintenance Wagons for moving balast.
