Paul Shepich principal of Clarenceville High School is known for playing for the Detroit Lions for half a season.

Thomas Moffit better known as Tommy is a homosexual student who attends Clarenceville High School and is known for the controversy he started in mid 2007 when he claimed he was the creator of myspace. In a letter to the city of Livonia Tommy stated Tom Anderson the real creator of myspace stole his idea, Tommy has claimed he conceived the idea when he was in the 6th grade, but at the time called his project MyInternetPage. In a letter he wrote to the City of Livonia Tommy claimed for a week straight he noticed his computer was acting funny and at the end of this month Tommy claimed the internet website he was working completly disappeared from his computer, desktop, and computer/internet files. Tommy told local reporters he didn't go to the police right away because he feared that he had deleted the project on accident or lost it through some kind storage device he copied it onto like a floppy disc. However, Tommy told reporters when he learned about Myspace he was appauled to know that someone could just take his idea like that, Tommy claims the only difference between his internet social network and myspace is simply the title of the internet website. In late 2007 after the controversy expanded through the school Tommy openly admitted his claims were merely a false statement and that he was simply seeking attention. Tommy was sued by the school in 2006 when he attempted to upload a virus into the school's system, Mr. Lurie told the principals he had found Tommy sweating and pacing in the school's computer room, Mrs Barkerstock with his black laptop hooked up to her computer. Tommy's attempt would have failed anyways, but his virus was meant to steal codes and other confidental material from the school and download it to his computer and use it against the school. Tommy has been banned from using any of the school's computer and again in early 2008 re found a club known as Gay Straight Alliance or better known as GSA. This group is meant to hold meetings meant for helping homosexual students fit in with their peers. Many of the staff members believe secretly it's a way to hack into the school's system.

Etymology

The school district's name was derived from the former town of Clarenceville, Michigan which took up some territory in Farmington Hills, Michigan. It is believed that since Clarenceville (the town) was in Oakland County, Michigan, it is one reason why Clarenceville is listed as an Oakland County school district despite having the schools in Wayne County, Michigan. Two former elementary schools, Edgewood Elementary and Westbrook Elementary, were located in Farmington Hills, Oakland County, but were closed in the 1970s.
