Cirquent Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Cirquent GmbH, was founded in the UK, as Softlab Ltd., in 1989 to sell and support the Maestro product line. Initially based in Hammersmith the company expanded with the launch of Maestro II, a software development environment supporting major customer like British Gas plc and Barclays Bank.

Softlab was purchased by BMW AG in the 1990's and following the purchase of Rover Group by BMW, Softlab Ltd. acquired AT&T Istel Rover Group services growing overnight from a company of about 60 staff to one of over 500. With the acquisition came a move of headquaters into the Birmingham area and a remit to move the business form software tool vendors to CRM and Contact Centre System Integrators. The company continued to thrive but faced a major change in 2001 when BMW Group sold Rover and soon after the automotive team was sold to CSC.

Softlab continued to focus on CRM and Contact Centre projects partnering with leading suppliers such as Microsoft (Dyanmics CRM), Oracle (Siebel), Genesys, Interactive Intelligence, CDC (Pivotal) and BMC (Remedy). Following acquisitions, in 2008 Softlab was rebranded Cirquent to complete the transformation into an international CRM and Contact CentrE Systems Integrator.

In 2009 a majority 72.9% stake in Cirquent was taken by NTT Data making Cirquent Ltd. part of the top 10 System Integrators in the world and bringing access to the resources of the NTT Data Group.
