"Circus"
Song

"Circus" is a song performed by American pop singer Britney Spears. The song was recorded for her forthcoming sixth studio album of the same name. The song was written and produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. The song was announced as the second single by Spears' official website on October 31, 2008.[2]

Critical reception

The song has so far received positive reviews. The Sun said that "Circus sees Brit morphing ever closer to Madonna. Circus has more than a passing resemblance to the industrial hip-hop-powered tracks on Hard Candy".[3] Digital Spy said that "Circus is a rampaging monster of a song whose chorus kicks off with a Max Martin-style thump.“I’m like the ringleader, I call the shots, I’m like a firecracker, I make it hot,” Britney sings on the verses.[4] Pop Justice said "Circus goes with massive thudding electronic R&B production and there's a lot of stopping and starting, including a built-in MTV-style dance breakdown segment.[5]

Music video

The music video was confirmed by Spears herself on November 6, 2008 at the MTV Europe Music Awards, while on set shooting it.[6]
